Annual Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony:

 

The 9th annual ceremony for fallen Peace Officers will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Sullivan Performing Arts Center & John Thomas Theater located at 3941 Summerhill Road.

Mayor Bruggeman read the proclamation. The Mayor also thanked Parks & Wellness Director Robby Robertson and staff for the fine upgrade of recently installed park and playground equipment throughout city parks.

              Staff Updates - Staff had no updates for council.

XI.              Administrative Comments

 

1.              City Council

Mayor Bruggeman said he received favorable comments from participants at this year's wine festival held at Spring Lake Park.

2.              City Staff

City Manager Whitson said demolition has begun on streets in the Forest Lake Addition. Staff will make a special effort to keep citizens fully informed of construction progress and its impact on residents. Door hangers with contact information will be distributed to citizens living in that area. The city welcomes any citizen questions or comments.

 

Citizens can also visit the Forest Lake Reconstruction Project page on the city's website and sign up for updates concerning the project. The website page address is http://www.ci.texarkana.tx.us/550/Forest-Lake-Reconstruction-Project.

 

City Manager Whitson said this year's wine festival went extremely well. Staff received comments expressing appreciation for the park's appearance, the much needed installation of additional lights, and the great effort of parks and reacreation staff who cleaned the park throughout the day.
